Q: I want to access the data in my ID Magic database. How do I do it?

A: ID Magic uses the Borland Paradox Database Engine to store the various data. If you have Paradox and know how to use it, you can open the ID Magic database using that program. The easiest way to find this file is to use the "Search" feature in Windows. Seach for IDCard.db which will be in a folder called DbDir. The file IDCard.db contains all the data you have entered in the fields of your cards.

If you do not have Borland Paradox, you can set up Microsoft Access to operate with the Paradox database. This is not a trival process for most people, and we recommend that you consult a technician to set up the ODBC linkage necessary to do this.

Note: It is possible to transfer your data to another ID badge program. Oak Tree Data has created a document to transfer to Asure ID, a program we offer to replace ID Magic. Please contact Sales for more information on Asure ID and our discount program for ID Magic customers, or click here for the data transfer document. (PDF format ~1.67MB)

Some ID Magic cross-hatch backgrounds are available for use in Asure ID card designs. We have a red, blue, green, and yellow pattern available in JPG format. Click here for the ZIP file containing these images (~61KB).
