Network You ID Card Printer!
Ethernet Networks and ID Card Printers
Your ID card printer is a valuable resource, and it may not make sense
to tie it to a single workstation. Putting your ID card printer on
you local area network (LAN) can make it accessible not only to other
users in your building but anyone in your company, even if they are
working miles away! Many of our printers have the capability to connect
to a LAN as a node on the network without the need to be connected to
a PC. (You will still need the software on a PC to create the designs
and send print jobs to the printer.)
Some of the card printers offered by Oak Tree Data have the capability
to connect to LANs built right in; others require that an additional
device called a print server be installed. Almost always this is done
by the factory when the printer is built, so you need to know if you
be networking your printer before you order it. At present, only the
Ethernet protocol is supported; token ring and Mac networks are not
available.
